Dr. Lorenz Petersen is head of the GTZ Climate Protection programme at its headquarters in Eschborn, Germany. He is an environmental economist with a specialisation in international environmental policy, market based instruments and governance aspects of natural resources management. He holds a postgraduate degree in agricultural science and a PhD in Environment and Natural Resources Economics with 15 years of experience in economic analysis, policy design and implementation in an international development and environmental policy context. Before joining GTZ he held long term positions as Campaign Coordinator with Greenpeace International and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations.
